Apologies in advance for a bit of a newbie query

When I process my jpg files in Panotour 2.1 I get both swf and html files produced

I have got panopress working OK just using the swf (flash) files

My question is (non-rude answers only please) what am I suppoed to do in panopress with these html files. Do I need to incorporate these somehow to support non-flash devices. If so what is the format for using both types of files for the same pano previews and displays ?

I think (??) I’ve answered my own question from doing more experiments

The files that appear out of Panotour should be stored in the WordPress directories as shown in the attachment (none of the documentation is at all clear about this)

The top level “uploads” folder can just be the uploads folder directly under wp-admin/wp-content or there could be another user folder in between such as to give wp-admin/wp-content/pano-data/uploads but it must match what is specified in the pano file= shortcode. It is the html file that is specified so the would be written as

[pano file= “http://www.sitename.com//wp-content/uploads/file.html” if the standard structure was used

The main point I found is that the html file is one level higher than the swf, xml and thumbnail.jpg files (ay least that was what worked for me !)

I can’t find out for sure but I think doing it this way provides for both flash and non-flash devices in one parameter line if the html file is referenced and all the other files out of panotour (or equivalent) are stored in the correct folders relative to each other

    Hi Martin,

You can link PanoPress to the HTML, SWF or XML.

The HTML file typicality use javascript to detect the client (pc or mobile) and load the right player using data stored in the XML.

The SWF will only work on pc and also using the XML.

The XML holds the data for the panorama/tour, PP will use that data to load the proper type, this is the preferred method.

Try them all on your site and see which one works best for you.

I’m having similar issue using Panopress and Panotours. The link works to view the Panotour, which is saved in:
    …/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/yardTEST.html

I’ve also tried the XML link:
    …/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/yardTESTdata/yardTEST.xml

I can provide a temporary user name to view how wordpress is setup. I’ve follow all instructions and tried options listed in similar posts.

Hi, I have the same problem. The pluging does not work. I use Panotour 2.2.0, wordpress 3.9.1. I have written the code according to the tutorial but can not find the page.

    These are the two code:
    (1) [ pano file=”http://www.asturias.as/www/wp-content/uploads/panoramas/my-pano.html” ]
    (2) [ pano file=”http://www.asturias.as/www/wp-content/uploads/panoramas/my-panodata/my-pano.html” ]

    And this is the result
    http://www.asturias.as/www/360-2

Example (2) has not been created by Panotour, I believe this html to follow the exact instructions. Panotour creates the html out of the folder where all the files. The tutorial has a royalty structure archvivos ( http://www.panopress.org/wp-content/screenshots/screenshot-4.png ) that does not correspond with what Panotour ago. If I put the two URLs in the browser work correctly.

    http://www.asturias.as/www/wp-content/uploads/panoramas/my-pano.html
    http://www.asturias.as/www/wp-content/uploads/panoramas/my-panodata/my-pano.html

Anyone know what the solution is.
    thank you.

    Hey,

It seems like something is messing up the embed code in the sample page, try this:

when editing the post, switch to the ‘text’ tab then paste this shortcode:

    [*pano file="http://www.asturias.as/www/wp-content/uploads/panoramas/my-pano.html"]

    delete the * and save.

    Thanks Omer;

I do not understand anything, it is very very strange. Your code is the same that I have inserted several times and in different pages. I put your code on my code and it works perfectly. Thank you again.

    Cool, I’m glad it works.

The only difference in the codes is the use of curly quote in your code over regular quotation marks – computers can be very picky sometimes 🙂
