[BUG] Some Panos don't work in IE 9
  • spyboyspyboy January 2012
I just noticed my panos are not working in IE 9, and had a few friends also test, and it's not working for them.

Just to verify I searched on this forum and went to an "official" pano and it too isn't working

    Any updates to this issue?

    hi kirk -

im on a mac myself, but i just installed IE9 on mac w virtualbox, and there may be some differences w a proper install on whichever version of windows you are using

anyway i did some tests, it seems panos loaded w a preview image and panobox work fine, others do not, like the pano on your link

this one works fine for me w IE9 (xml, preview image w panobox) - http://www.panopress.org/krpano-vtour/

but this one does not (xml, preview image w no panobox)  - http://www.panopress.org/krpano-with-preview-jpg/

and this one does not work either (xml, no preview image, no panobox) - http://www.panopress.org/krpano-multires/

i will do some more testing to see which other configurations work and which do not, and this will be noted as a bug in the 1.0b1 release - but for now, see if using a panobox makes IE happy

    thanks

    sam

    Hi guys,

Thanks for Very important input, I can confirm Sam's tests on win7.

Lately I made some changes to the support library of PP ("tinyQ") that made code more ie friendly so I believe we can make PP close to 100% compatible with ie9.

Please post as much info as possible including error messages etc.

We should fix these bugs for next release (beta 2).

    Omer

    Hi Guys,

it seems there is trouble with IE8 also, some people aren't able to see pano.
One french guy create a plugin similar to PanoPress and its quite working with IE; not really in my case because the pano wont load and stay blurry, but i'm in contact with him to solve this issue.

Maybe you can try it on your own and/or contact him...

    Cheers

I have made my first panorama just for testing purposes with pano2vr .... It has one problem with panopress and IE9 ,as we know.

Pano2vr has a soft-blur problem with HTML5 panoramas, even in last beta .
I think problem is java viewer , tiles looks sharp enough.

Anyway Im writing now , because I have tested exported panorama in PTGUI with panopress , and works fine in IE9 and IE8, flash view of course .

I don't like ptgui flash viewer performance , but works.

here is a link to wordpress with panopress installed , I have it for testing purposes so maybe will not be working always.
